CopSSH Installation

Installing CopSSH is considerably easier than the Cygwin package. The CopSSH package is self contained, including all base dependencies (e.g. shell tools).

The CopSSH package installer automatically installs both SSH client and SSHD daemon. It also installs SSHD as a service. Although you will end up installing both SSH and SSHD on each of the machines involved in the Browse Benchmark, only the browsechild client machines are required to have a running SSHD daemon.

The most important thing to remember is to activate users after the installation is completed.

  1. Obtain a copy of CopSSH from https://www.itefix.no/i2/copssh-get.
  2. Download the installer and begin the installation process.
  3. Accept the license agreement. <Next>.
  4. Specify an install location <Next>.
  5. Once the installation is completed you will be notified that the server account "SvcCOPSSH" was created and that no other user can use Copssh by default. You need to "Activate a User"
  6. To activate a user, Start->Programs->COPSSH->Activate a useri. On Windows 8, the Start menu is presented as a separate Start screen
Select a User Name (it must be an existing Windows user)
Select a shell (/bin/bash is the default)
The defaults related to removing existing home directories, creating keys and links need to be selected as they apply to your environment.
