View indexed file types

You can see an overview of the file types indexed by P4 Search from the P4 Search web UI. You can check the distribution of file types by count and size in interactive bar charts, or get figures from a table.

File types are grouped into categories. Typical categories include text, image, video, and audio, but you might see other categories depending on the types of file you have indexed. If a file type cannot be categorized, it will be put into an unknown category.

You must be an administrator to view the file types indexed by P4 Search.
  1. Log in to the P4 Search web UI with credentials that are administrator level or greater.

  2. Click the Account button in the top navigation bar and select Indexing.

    The Indexing page opens.

  3. Open the Stats tab.

View asset categories by count

Under File Count, a stacked bar chart displays the distribution of file categories, by file count, that have been indexed.

Click a category label to see a new bar chart displaying the distribution of file types in that category. Mouse over a category bar for more details.

View asset categories by size

Under File Size, a stacked bar chart displays the distribution of file categories, by file size, that have been indexed.

Click a category label to see a new bar chart displaying the distribution of file types in that category. Mouse over a category bar for more details.

View file details

Under File Count and Size, a table lists detailed information for each category and the file types within it. Click the dropdown arrow next to a category name to see the file types in that category.
